This Senior Financial Accountant will support accurate reporting, complex consolidations and financial control across its multi-entity business.

About Our Client

A Melbourne-based retail business seeking an experienced accounting professional to join its finance team. Working across a diverse group structure, the successful candidate will gain broad exposure to reporting, multiple entities, financial operations and process improvement.

Job Description

  • Prepare and analyse financial reports and statements.
  • Manage month-end and year-end financial reporting across multiple entities.
  • Prepare complex group consolidations, including inter-company eliminations.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the general ledger and reconcile accounts.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and guidance.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
  • Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and fixed asset reporting.
  • Support the preparation of statutory accounts and audit requirements.
  • Assist with cash flow reporting, budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline reporting and improve finance processes.
  • Maintain accurate financial data across the group's systems and entities.

The Successful Applicant

  • A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, and a CPA or CA.
  • Demonstrated experience in a Senior Financial Accountant role; preferably within a retail or FMCG environment.
  • Strong experience working within a complex, multi-entity environment, and proven capability in preparing complex group consolidations.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and principles.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Strong experience with Excel, accounting software and ERP systems, knowledge of MYOB a bonus.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation and deadline-management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Retail or FMCG experience is strongly preferred.
