We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant for a three-month contract to provide essential support during a critical year-end reporting and audit period. This role is suited to a technically strong finance professional with proven SAP experience who can take ownership of key reporting deliverables and confidently manage stakeholder and audit requirements. This role is to cover leave from the 23 November 2026 through to 12 February 2027.

Our client is a respected and established organisation operating within a complex and highly regulated environment. With a strong focus on financial governance, reporting accuracy and operational excellence, they are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to support the finance team through a period of increased reporting and audit activity.

Job Description

  • Participate in the November month-end process to ensure a thorough handover and successful transition into the role.
  • Prepare and maintain year-end audit packs and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate and respond to requests from external auditors.
  • Assist with the preparation of statutory financial statements.
  • Support year-end reporting requirements and corporate reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare journals, reconciliations, and financial reporting schedules.
  • Work closely with finance leadership to ensure key reporting obligations are met.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial information in a high-pressure reporting environment.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Financial Accountant should have:

  • The ability to complete a three-month contract commencing on the 23rd of November
  • Demonstrated experience in a Senior Financial Accountant or Technical Accountant position.
  • SAP experience is essential.
  • Proven background in financial reporting and statutory reporting.
  • Experience preparing and managing audit packs.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and reporting requirements.
  • Previous experience liaising directly with external auditors.
  • CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Previous external audit experience, particularly within a Big 4 or Second Tier firm, will be highly regarded.
