About Our Client

Our client is an established national organisation providing essential services across Australia. They offer a fast-paced but supportive working environment where accuracy, collaboration and reliability are highly valued.

Due to maternity leave, they are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join their team for six months. This opportunity is available on either a fixed-term or temporary basis, with an ASAP start preferred and no later than 19th October.

Job Description

  • Processing the fortnightly payroll accurately and within deadlines
  • Managing the employee payroll lifecycle from onboarding to termination
  • Reviewing timesheets, allowances, wages and leave applications
  • Calculating annual leave, terminations, allowances and other payments
  • Completing payroll reconciliations and month-end reporting
  • Processing payroll tax, superannuation and statutory remittances
  • Investigating payroll discrepancies and resolving employee queries
  • Interpreting awards, enterprise agreements and employment conditions
  • Maintaining accurate payroll records and employee information
  • Supporting the Payroll Manager with senior payroll responsibilities
  • Acting as a key payroll contact during the Payroll Manager's planned leave

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Payroll Officer should have:

  • Strong end-to-end payroll experience within a medium to large organisation
  • Experience processing high-volume, complex payrolls
  • Previous exposure to payroll tax, superannuation and month-end activities
  • A strong understanding of awards, enterprise agreements and legislation
  • Experience completing payroll reconciliations and statutory payments
  • The ability to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies
  • Confidence working independently and taking ownership of your workload
