About Our Client

An established and growing Australian business is seeking a Tax Manager to join its finance function during an exciting period of growth and transformation.

Job Description

  • Manage the group's Australian tax compliance and reporting obligations across corporate income tax, GST, FBT and other relevant taxes.
  • Coordinate the preparation and review of tax returns, tax calculations, provisions and supporting documentation.
  • Support tax effect accounting and the preparation of tax disclosures for statutory reporting.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisers, auditors and relevant regulatory authorities.
  • Provide technical tax advice to finance leadership and broader business stakeholders.
  • Identify and manage tax risks, ensuring appropriate controls, governance and documentation are maintained.
  • Support the business on transactions, investments, restructuring and other strategic initiatives from a tax perspective.
  • Partner with finance and operational stakeholders to understand the commercial implications of tax matters.
  • Review existing tax processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation and controls.
  • Contribute to broader finance transformation and process improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their potential impact on the organisation.
  • Develop scalable processes and frameworks capable of supporting the continued growth of the business.

The Successful Applicant

  • Strong Australian corporate tax knowledge gained within Big 4, a leading Chartered firm or a complex corporate environment.
  • Approximately 5-8+ years of relevant tax experience, although capability and potential will be considered ahead of tenure.
  • CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Experience across corporate income tax, tax effect accounting and broader Australian tax compliance.
  • Strong technical capability with the confidence to research and advise on complex tax matters.
  • A commercial mindset and an interest in understanding how tax decisions affect broader business outcomes.
  • The ability to think beyond a traditional compliance-focused tax function.
  • A demonstrated interest in process improvement, automation, systems and innovation.

What's on Offer

This is an opportunity to move into a highly visible role within a large, PE-backed Australian organisation where tax is viewed as more than a compliance function.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take genuine ownership of tax matters, work closely with senior finance leadership and contribute to the continued development of the broader finance function.

For someone coming directly from Big 4, the role provides an attractive first move into industry with exposure to commercial decision-making, transformation, transactions and senior stakeholders, while retaining the technical complexity expected within a sophisticated corporate environment.
