Job Description

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain telecommunications systems and infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to telecom networks.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to implement new telecom solutions.
  • Monitor network performance and ensure optimal functionality.
  • Document system configurations and maintain up-to-date records.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for telecom-related queries.
  • Assist in the deployment and configuration of telecom hardware and software.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

The Successful Applicant

A successful candidate should have:

  • Experience in a similar role across telcom or network roles
  • End-to-end 4G core signalling knowledge, including MME, HSS, SGW, PGW and PCRF.
  • Practical understanding of signalling flows such as attach, authentication, location update, handover and session teardown.
  • Hands-on knowledge of protocols such as NAS, S1AP, Diameter, GTP, SS7, SIP and IMS.
  • Roaming and interconnect understanding, including operator-to-operator signalling and IPX or hub carrier boundaries.
  • Good understanding of where 5G still depends on LTE signalling, especially in non-standalone environments.
  • OSS/BSS understanding, including how those systems integrate with the mobile core and where legacy or unmanaged systems may create risk.
  • Enough security awareness to identify what signalling exposure could enable, such as location tracking, SMS interception, fraud or denial of service.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
  • Relevant qualifications in technology or telecommunications.
