About Our Client

A proud Aboriginal Corporation, Wunambal Gaambera Aboriginal Corporation (WGAC) manages the Native Title rights and interests of the Wunambal Gaambera people. This newly created role focuses on building the education, capability, and long-term employment pathways of its Indigenous workforce. The position plays a key role in developing a culturally appropriate training framework that strengthens literacy, supports formal qualifications, and prepares individuals for broader career opportunities.

Job Description

The Trainer will lead the design, development, and delivery of workforce training and education programs within WGAC. This includes mentoring staff, implementing structured learning pathways, and supporting individuals to achieve nationally recognised competencies aligned to Healthy Country Plan activities and emerging industry opportunities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and delivering staff training programs and mentoring to build competency to WACE level and beyond
  • Developing (with approved consultants) a 5-Year Workforce Training Program for Board adoption
  • Leading implementation of the Workforce Training Program across corporate staff, rangers, and community members
  • Supporting learning in on-country environments, encouraging education while on duty
  • Coordinating training, capacity building, and reporting activities across quarterly team meetings
  • Monitoring and reporting on workforce competency achievements and program outcomes
  • Identifying individual learning needs and creating tailored development plans
  • Facilitating access to TAFE and other education pathways nationally
  • Supporting culturally appropriate education frameworks in partnership with traditional owners and linguists
  • Assisting in the development of learning infrastructure and on-site education spaces

The Successful Applicant

You are an experienced trainer or educator with a passion for community development and improving long-term employment outcomes in Indigenous or cross-cultural environments.

You will demonstrate:

  • Qualifications in adult education, training, or workforce development (preferred)
  • Proven experience in training and mentoring, particularly in developing or low-literacy environments
  • Ability to work effectively in remote or regional settings (Kimberley experience highly regarded)
  • Strong cultural awareness and experience working with Indigenous communities
  • Excellent interpersonal and engagement skills, with the ability to build trust
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
