Michael Page appoints Joel Donnelly to new property and construction role

Sydney, 17 April 2018: PageGroup have appointed Joel Donnelly to the newly created position of Michael Page ANZ Regional Director for Property and Construction.

Donnelly brings to the role 15 years of specialist recruitment expertise across the property and construction sectors in Australia and South East Asia. In his most recent role as Managing and Board Director for Capstone Recruitment, he spent much of the past eight years in the company’s Hong Kong office.

PageGroup Regional Managing Director, Matthew Gribble, says Donnelly’s market leading end-to-end recruitment and specialist knowledge in the sector is a valuable addition, bringing strength and growth opportunities to the company’s existing team.

Gribble says, “We are really pleased to welcome Joel into the Page property and construction service offering.

“We’ve got a great platform already established in property and construction, and we’re excited to bring him in to exponentially grow the scale of the business, across the white collar and trades and labour verticals.

“We’re constantly looking at our business model and evolving it, and we have a bespoke strategy to best support the success of our clients.

“Joel brings to that a focussed strategy with extensive senior level relationships, a deep understanding of the property and construction markets and the ability to help us source specialist consultants in that space while delivering the best global to our ANZ clients.”

Donnelly says his emphasis will initially be on “building deep relationships and being high touch with clients and quality candidates.”

“I want to attract and retain the best people in the market and deliver an environment for our team where they can continue to learn and develop, and where they’ll be challenged to improve.

“The property and construction team within Michael Page is a sleeping giant, and with the long reach of the other sectors the company works work in, leveraging those relationships is a significant opportunity which we can capitalise on.”

Despite expecting challenges from established players with significant market share in the space, Donnelly is buoyed by Page’s track record for growth in other recruitment sectors, and by the current industry forecasts for growth across property, construction and infrastructure.

He says, “The Michael Page brand is so strong across so many industries, and better positioning Page as a specialist player in the space will bring excellent growth opportunities.

“The beautiful thing about property is that every one of the company’s existing clients has a property need, just like they have finance and HR requirements.

“Page is ideally set to service those needs and to expand that service to other clients.”

Donnelly holds a BA in Economics from the University of Sydney, as well as a Master of Human Resources.
