An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Coordinator to join a large and highly regarded WA local government organisation during a period of significant change and transformation within the finance function.

Located in Perth's northern suburbs, our client sits within the local government sector. They offer on-site parking and flexible working arrangements.

Job Description

  • Provide leadership and oversight across day-to-day finance operations
  • Review and improve the accuracy of financial records and actuals
  • Support the preparation and delivery of annual statutory financial statements
  • Coordinate and contribute to the annual Long Term Financial Plan (LTFP) review and update process
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen financial planning, reporting and governance frameworks
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to finance team members
  • Partner with operational stakeholders to improve financial outcomes and decision-making
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting and management reporting activities
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Local Government legislation, accounting standards and reporting requirements

The Successful Applicant

  • Demonstrated experience in a Coordinator, Manager, Senior Accountant or similar finance leadership position
  • Strong knowledge of WA Local Government financial management practices
  • Experience preparing or overseeing annual financial statements and audit processes
  • Exposure to Long Term Financial Planning (LTFP) within a local government environment
  • Sound understanding of the Local Government Act and associated financial regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • The ability to quickly assess issues, implement improvements and provide practical solutions
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
