Job Description

  • Own the electrical product architecture and design, ensuring effectiveness, performance, competitiveness and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead the development of standardised, modular, and prefabricated DC balance-of-system (DC BOS) solutions for large-scale solar applications, optimised for cost, performance, and quality. This includes developing both electrical and mechanical elements and productising solutions that are scalable, compliant, manufacturable, and installable.
  • Own the development of end-to-end, integrated, and standardised electrical power system solutions, power conversion technologies, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), supporting applications such as utility-scale solar farms, data centres, mining operations, and other remote power systems.
  • Support sales and business development teams by providing technical leadership and credibility in customer engagements, clearly articulating product value, performance advantages, and design rationale.
  • Support project engineering teams in completing detailed DC BOS and electrical system designs for customer projects, and present and justify design decisions to customer engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Support the supply chain team in supply chain establishment by providing technical, quality and cost requirements, including engagement with OEMs to ensure strong technical understanding of requirements and outcomes and to provide a feedback loop into the technical team.
  • Serve as a core technical leader in the development of next-generation PV array systems that challenge conventional industry approaches, including novel installation methods, electrical architectures, and system integration strategies.
  • Develop and own electrical design and pricing tools that enable rapid project implementation and reduce engineering time, cost, and variability through parameterisation, automation, and standardisation.

The Successful Applicant

PV/Electrical Experience

● Minimum 8 years experience in electrical design of solar PV systems with at least 5 years working experience in Australia in utility-scale or large commercial projects.

● Strong working knowledge of key standards such as AS/NZS 5033, AS3000 and AS/NZS 3008. Desirable familiarity with international codes and standards such as UL2703, NEC and US wiring rules.

● Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of PV electrical system design, and DC balance-of-system (DC BOS) solutions for large-scale solar PV projects. Including completion of Single Line Diagram/Wiring Schematics drafting and electrical components selection.

● Competence in CAD software; 3D modelling experience is strongly preferred.

● Experience with PV simulation tools (e.g. PVsyst).

● Experience performing LCOE and system-level optimisation studies.Product & Systems Engineering Skills

● Strong product and systems mindset, with experience productising engineering solutions to be cost effective, scalable,manufacturable, installable and reliable.

● Onsite experience and understanding of the constructability of designs and products.

● Experience managing external engineering consultants.

● Experience in engaging and managing OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer).Commercial

● Experience supporting sales and business development through technical leadership and customer-facing engagement.

● Ability to clearly explain and justify engineering decisions to customer engineering teams and stakeholders.
