We are seeking an experienced HSE Specialist to lead a critical Health & Safety audit and uplift project. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in autonomous environments and brings deep expertise in psychosocial risk frameworks and policy development.

About Our Client

This is a high-impact, standalone position focused on assessing and enhancing an existing HSE framework across Australia and New Zealand. You will take ownership of reviewing, designing, and implementing fit-for-purpose safety policies.

Job Description

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and frameworks in line with industry standards and legislative requirements.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, identify hazards, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventative actions to minimise recurrence.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on HSE performance, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Identify gaps and key risks within the existing safety framework and drive initiatives to strengthen controls and outcomes.
  • Design and deliver HSE training programs, providing ongoing guidance and support to employees and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain HSE documentation, including policies, procedures, templates, and compliance materials to ensure accuracy and audit readiness.
  • Embed and uplift a consistent safety culture and standards across all locations, including interstate and NZ operations.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory updates, and best practices to enhance organisational HSE capability.

The Successful Applicant

A successful HSE professional should have:

  • Proven experience in HSE policy development and framework review
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian WHS legislation across states (including Tasmania)
  • Exposure to New Zealand safety frameworks, or ability to quickly adapt
  • Strong understanding of psychosocial risk frameworks and policy development (critical requirement)
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion

What's on Offer

Contract: Fixed-term through to end of 2026 (initial view: approx. 6 months)

Working Pattern:

  • Full-time: 35 hours per week (office-based), or
  • Part-time: 3-4 days per week considered



Scope: Australia-wide + New Zealand
