Job Description

  • Provide timely and accurate legal advice to internal stakeholders across various business units.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial contracts and agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and legal requirements within the financial services industry.
  • Support the management of legal risks by identifying potential issues and providing practical solutions.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with external legal advisers as needed to manage complex legal matters.
  • Conduct legal research and provide updates on changes in legislation affecting the business.
  • Deliver training and guidance to internal teams on legal and regulatory matters.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Legal Counsel will bring:

  • A Bachelor of Laws (LLB/JD) and current admission to practice as a legal practitioner in Australia.
  • Approximately 2-4 years' post-qualification experience (PQE) gained in a reputable law firm or in-house legal team.
  • Strong experience in commercial law, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of commercial agreements.
  • Sound understanding of Australian regulatory and compliance frameworks, with the ability to provide practical, commercially focused legal advice.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic approach to managing legal risk.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across the business.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and a genuine interest in supporting business outcomes.
  • Experience or interest in the renewable energy, infrastructure, utilities, or broader energy sector will be highly regarded.
