An exciting opportunity is available for a Paralegal to join a purpose-driven organisation on a temporary contract through to the end of the year, with the possibility of extension. You'll support a busy legal team across native title matters, legal administration, stakeholder engagement and project coordination, all while making a genuine impact in the community.

Our client is a well-established not-for-profit organisation that works closely with Traditional Owners and First Nations communities across Queensland. Known for their collaborative and people-first approach, they bring together legal, community engagement and specialist teams to deliver meaningful outcomes and long-term support for their clients.

Job Description

  • Conduct legal and factual research relating to native title matters and case law.
  • Assist with the preparation of legal documents, applications, affidavits, submissions, reports and legal briefs.
  • Draft professional correspondence, newsletters and administrative documentation.
  • File and serve court documents and coordinate the delivery of legal briefs.
  • Undertake transcription and document management activities.
  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of meetings, workshops, conferences and stakeholder engagements.
  • Attend meetings and accurately record minutes and action items.
  • Support client management teams with planning, progress tracking and project coordination activities.
  • Monitor and update matter information, risks and key milestones.
  • Maintain accurate records, databases and case management systems.
  • Ensure information is kept current across internal systems and reporting platforms.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and client-focused team environment.

The Successful Applicant

  • Previous experience in a Paralegal (ideally 2+ years)
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and confidence learning new systems.
  • The ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to work.
  • Strong administrative and record management capability.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Current driver's licence and willingness to travel when required.
  • An understanding of, or interest in, First Nations affairs and native title matters will be highly regarded.
