This newly created position will act as a consultant between the dedicated Payroll Provider and be the primary point of contact for any payroll matters within the business. Rather than processing payroll end-to-end, you'll focus on ensuring accurate and compliant payroll outcomes, providing expert guidance on payroll legislation and awards, managing key stakeholder relationships, and supporting process improvements and payroll-related initiatives.

Job Description

  • Manage the relationship with the outsourced payroll provider.
  • Review payroll outputs, reconciliations, and reports prior to approval.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation, Modern Awards, superannuation, payroll tax, and STP requirements.
  • Monitor legislative changes and coordinate the implementation of required updates.
  • Oversee payroll tax reporting, reconciliations, and end-of-year processes.
  • Support payroll audits, governance requirements, and compliance activities.
  • Act as the key point of contact for payroll-related queries and escalations.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the business to ensure payroll requirements are met.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and efficiency.
  • Maintain payroll documentation, procedures, and reporting requirements.

The Successful Applicant

  • 5-10 years' Australian payroll experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, Modern Awards, payroll tax, superannuation, and STP reporting.
  • Experience working with outsourced payroll providers or within a payroll governance, advisory, or specialist capacity.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation capabilities.
  • High attention to detail and a proactive approach to compliance.
  • A desire to continue developing your payroll expertise within a growing organisation.
