With a strong focus on system reliability, compliance and continuous improvement, they are seeking an experienced SAP Payroll specialist to take ownership of their Employee Central Payroll (ECP) environment.

Job Description

Reporting into the HRIS leadership team, you will take ownership of the administration, configuration and ongoing development of SAP Employee Central Payroll.

This is a senior, hands-on position requiring someone who can independently design, build and deliver new payroll functionality rather than solely maintaining existing configurations.Key responsibilities include:

  • Own the day-to-day administration, configuration and enhancement of SAP ECP.
  • Design, develop and maintain payroll schemas, Personnel Calculation Rules (PCRs) and wage types.
  • Configure new payroll functionality to support evolving business requirements and legislative changes.
  • Manage payroll configuration including wage type valuation, deductions, garnishments, off-cycle processing and leave entitlements.
  • Coordinate SAP releases, patches and legislative updates, including impact assessments and regression testing.
  • Support payroll testing and parallel runs to ensure accurate payroll processing.
  • Maintain integrations between SAP Employee Central, ECP and external systems.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex payroll configuration issues and incidents.
  • Monitor system performance, data integrity and payroll processing to proactively identify potential issues.
  • Maintain configuration documentation, technical specifications and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with HR, Payroll, Finance and IT stakeholders to deliver ongoing platform improvements.



The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be an experienced SAP Payroll specialist with strong hands-on configuration experience and the ability to independently deliver new system functionality.You will bring:

  • 8+ years of overall SAP experience, including at least 5 years dedicated to SAP ECP or traditional SAP HCM Payroll.
  • Proven hands-on experience configuring payroll schemas, Personnel Calculation Rules (PCRs) and wage types.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and develop new payroll functionality, rather than solely supporting existing configurations.
  • Experience participating in at least one full-cycle SAP ECP implementation, migration or major upgrade.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processing, system configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience managing payroll releases, regression testing and parallel payroll runs.
  • Ability to independently investigate and resolve complex payroll configuration issues.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working alongside Payroll, HR, Finance and IT teams.
  • Excellent documentation skills and a proactive approach to system improvement.



Highly regarded:

  • Experience configuring Australian payroll requirements, including taxation, superannuation and long service leave.
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central integration experience.
  • Experience working within complex enterprise payroll environments.
  • Exposure to multiple payroll areas, pay groups and evolving legislative requirements.
