A large public sector organisation is looking for a senior technical / solution architect who can help clean up, simplify and improve their SAP systems. The person will design solutions, move and archive old HR, payroll and rostering data, and make sure the systems are secure, efficient and easier to maintain.

Job Description

The Solution Architect will contribute to the design, build and maintenance of high-quality digital solutions that improve efficiency and effectiveness across the enterprise. The Solution Architect will support the strategic objectives of SAP landscape optimisation, environment rationalisation and enterprise archiving of critical HR/Payroll and Rostering data.Job Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
  • Fulfill the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service values, to which Queensland Health is aligned.
  • Actively manage a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, and ethical behaviour.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document requirements, translating them into effective digital solutions.
  • Provide expert technical advice to stakeholders and project teams and design and architect custom digital solutions that align with organisational strategies, standards, and best practices.
  • Design, build, test, deploy, digital solutions using modern frameworks and coding languages that align to the existing SAP ecosystem.
  • Design intuitive user interfaces and ensure solutions incorporate best practice user experience principles to maximise adoption and usability.
  • Provide expert advice to project management and governance structures on solution costings and privacy and operational requirements.
  • Ensure solutions are secure, reliable, sustainable, and scalable through appropriate design patterns, testing, and monitoring.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation to support continuity, reuse, and knowledge transfer.
  • Work autonomously to manage development projects from concept through to delivery, while escalating risks or barriers when required.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, business analysts, and subject-matter experts to integrate solutions into broader digital landscape.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and recommend innovations that could improve Branch efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the development of coding standards, governance frameworks, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering are not mandatory but would be well regarded.
  • Demonstrated expertise in full-stack digital solutions development, within the SAP Technology stack, using appropriate frameworks befitting the requirements.
  • Proficiency in core web technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with exposure to competitive coding languages an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of SAP system architecture, cloud platforms, APIs, and database management.
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and version control systems (e.g. Git).
  • Proven ability to collaboratively design and deliver end-to-end custom digital solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders, translate business needs into technical outcomes, and provide expert advice.
  • Demonstrated capability in applying user experience and user interface design principles to create effective, user-centred digital solutions.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, innovation, and critical-thinking skills in developing scalable digital solutions.
