About Our Client

This organisation operates within the mining and resources industry, focused on specialised control system engineering projects based in Perth. They are looking to add a Senior Control Systems Engineer to their Perth team to support a growing pipeline of projects, with an immediate focus on BHP operations and upgrades. You'll be joining a team of around 35 electrical and control systems professionals, working alongside experienced Lead Engineers and Project Managers on a variety of mining projects across WA.Unlike many senior roles, this position is not centred around people management. Instead, it offers the opportunity to remain hands-on technically while contributing to the successful delivery of high-profile mining automation projects.

Job Description

You will be responsible for the design, development, configuration, testing and commissioning of industrial control systems, working alongside a highly experienced team of engineers and project delivery professionals. This is a hands-on technical position focused on engineering execution and project delivery rather than formal people leadership. The role will suit an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and delivering practical outcomes for mining clients.Key responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop and implement industrial control system solutions for mining applications.
  • Configure, program and troubleshoot Rockwell Automation PLCs and associated systems.
  • Develop and maintain Citect SCADA applications and visualisation systems.
  • Participate in control system upgrades, plant expansions and brownfield improvements.
  • Produce functional specifications, testing documentation and engineering deliverables.
  • Undertake Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and commissioning activities.
  • Collaborate with lead engineers, project managers and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Provide technical support during project execution and system handover.
  • Engage directly with client stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Travel to mine sites as required for commissioning and operational support.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Control System Engineer should have:Essential Experience

  • Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience delivering control systems projects within the mining sector.
  • Strong experience with Rockwell Automation PLC platforms.
  • Proven experience developing and supporting Citect SCADA systems.
  • Previous project experience working on BHP operations or projects.
  • Experience with commissioning, fault finding and site-based project delivery.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.



Desirable Experience

  • Experience with Ignition SCADA platforms.
  • Exposure to other control system architectures and industrial communications networks.
  • Previous experience working for a systems integrator or mining owner/operator.
