An established investment organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Investment Manager - Listed Funds to join its investment team and play a key role in the management and oversight of its listed markets portfolio.

Job Description

Investment Strategy & Portfolio Construction

  • Lead the development and implementation of investment strategies across listed markets, including Australian and global equities and other relevant public market exposures.
  • Contribute to strategic and dynamic asset allocation decisions across the broader portfolio.
  • Develop portfolio construction recommendations considering expected returns, risk, liquidity, diversification and investment objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance portfolio returns and improve risk-adjusted outcomes.
  • Undertake detailed market, sector, manager and portfolio analysis to support investment decisions.
  • Monitor macroeconomic, market and industry developments and assess their implications for the portfolio.



External Manager Selection & Oversight

  • Lead the identification, research and due diligence of external investment managers.
  • Assess investment philosophy, process, portfolio construction, organisational capability, performance, risk management and operational infrastructure.
  • Make recommendations regarding manager appointments, terminations and changes to portfolio allocations.
  • Maintain senior relationships with existing and prospective fund managers.
  • Conduct regular manager reviews and challenge managers on performance, positioning, risk and investment decisions.
  • Negotiate and review investment mandates and commercial arrangements in conjunction with relevant internal stakeholders.



Portfolio Management & Performance

  • Monitor portfolio positioning, exposures, liquidity, risk and performance against investment objectives and benchmarks.
  • Analyse investment performance and attribution at portfolio, strategy and manager level.
  • Identify emerging portfolio risks and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Evaluate new investment strategies, products and structures across listed markets.
  • Work closely with investment operations, risk, finance and governance teams to ensure effective implementation and oversight of investment decisions.



Investment Committee & Stakeholder Management

  • Prepare high-quality investment papers, recommendations and presentations for senior leadership and Investment Committee consideration.
  • Present investment recommendations and portfolio updates to Investment Committees, Boards and other senior stakeholders.
  • Provide clear and commercially focused analysis of complex investment matters.
  • Build strong relationships with investment managers, consultants, advisers, custodians and other external partners.
  • Represent the organisation across the broader institutional investment community.



The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will bring significant experience within institutional investment management, funds management, superannuation, asset consulting, sovereign wealth, insurance or a comparable investment environment.

You will ideally have:

  • Approximately 10+ years of investment experience, with substantial exposure to listed/public markets.
  • Strong experience across Australian and/or global equities, with broader multi-asset or listed markets exposure highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in external manager research, selection and monitoring.
  • Strong knowledge of portfolio construction, asset allocation, investment risk and performance analysis.
  • Experience undertaking investment due diligence and presenting investment recommendations.
  • A strong understanding of institutional investment portfolios and governance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage confidently with fund managers, Investment Committees, Boards and senior executives.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and commercial capabilities.
  • Excellent written communication skills with experience preparing investment papers and recommendations.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, economics, commerce, mathematics or a related discipline.
  • CFA, CA, CPA, Masters of Applied Finance or other relevant postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded.
