Job Description

The Commercial Finance Manager will lead the finance business partnering function and serve as a trusted adviser to the executive leadership team and Board. The role is responsible for managing the organisation's budgeting and forecasting process from start to finish, delivering meaningful commercial insights and supporting strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the annual budget and periodic forecast processes end-to-end
  • Managing a team of four, including three Finance Business Partners and one transactional finance professional
  • Delivering high-quality management reporting, analysis and financial insights
  • Supporting Board and executive reporting requirements
  • Partnering with senior stakeholders across the organisation to influence commercial and operational outcomes
  • Driving financial planning, costing and performance management activities
  • Developing business cases, financial models and strategic analysis
  • Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes, systems and reporting capability
  • Supporting future ERP and budgeting system transformation initiatives
  • Building a high-performing business partnering culture across the finance function

The Successful Applicant

We are seeking a capable and commercially minded finance leader with a proven track record in budgeting, forecasting and management accounting within a complex organisation. Industry experience is not critical; what matters most is the ability to lead people, influence stakeholders and drive financial outcomes.

You will bring:

  • CA or CPA qualification
  • Strong experience leading large budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Demonstrated success in finance business partnering and stakeholder management
  • Proven people leadership experience with the ability to develop teams
  • Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with executives and Boards
  • Advanced analytical, modelling and problem-solving capability
  • Experience within education or a similarly complex environment will be beneficial but is not essential
  • A hands-on approach and strong work ethic, with the ability to balance strategic and operational responsibilities
