About Our Client

Our client is a leading, large-scale organisation with a diverse national footprint and a strong reputation for operational excellence. They are currently seeking a Payroll Officer to join their established payroll team in Wacol.

Job Description

The Payroll Officer will be responsible for:

  • Process end-to-end payroll activities, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time across multiple payroll cycles.
  • Prepare and process terminations, payroll adjustments, back pays and other off-cycle payments.
  • Maintain payroll data integrity through accurate record management and regular payroll reconciliations.
  • Act as a key point of contact for employee and stakeholder payroll enquiries, delivering timely and professional support.
  • Ensure payroll processes remain compliant with relevant taxation, superannuation, award and legislative requirements.
  • Support payroll governance through participation in internal and external audits.
  • Assist with payroll system upgrades, enhancements, testing and implementation activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing payroll processes, controls and service delivery.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Payroll Officer should have:

  • Demonstrated experience in payroll processing within a medium to large-scale organisation.
  • Sound understanding of payroll legislation, taxation obligations, superannuation and compliance requirements.
  • High level of attention to detail with a commitment to delivering accurate payroll outcomes.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across the business.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • A proactive mindset with a collaborative, team-oriented approach to work.
  • Experience using payroll systems and related technology, with exposure to system improvements viewed favourably.
