About Our Client

Our client is a well-established organisation operating within a highly technical and regulated industry. With a strong focus on quality, operational excellence and continuous improvement, they are seeking a Purchasing Officer to support their Supply Chain team and ensure the efficient sourcing of goods and materials required to support ongoing operations.

Job Description

  • Manage the end-to-end purchase order process, including raising, tracking and closing purchase orders.
  • Source goods, materials and services from approved suppliers.
  • Expedite open orders to ensure delivery commitments are met.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, pricing information and supplier communications within the ERP system.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address delivery, pricing and service-related issues.
  • Resolve supplier discrepancies including shortages, invoice issues and delayed deliveries.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to understand purchasing requirements and operational priorities.
  • Ensure procurement activities are completed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Support inventory and goods receipting activities where required.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and procurement records.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain function.
  • Identify efficiencies and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Assist with reporting and supplier performance analysis.
  • Support a team-focused environment committed to operational excellence.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Purchasing Officer should have:

  • Previous experience in procurement, purchasing or supply chain roles.
  • Demonstrated experience managing purchase orders and supplier relationships.
  • Experience working with ERP systems.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience within manufacturing, industrial, engineering or similarly regulated environments will be highly regarded.
  • Relevant qualifications in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics or a related discipline are advantageous.
