Join a growing team leading grid connection and power system studies for major renewable energy, BESS and HV infrastructure projects across Australia, supporting projects from feasibility through to commissioning and compliance. You'll use industry-leading tools such as PowerFactory and PSCAD, work directly with AEMO, NSPs and clients, and have the opportunity to develop into a Grid Connection Manager role.
  • Lead grid connection for Australia's leading BESS & renewable projects.
  • Own complex PowerFactory/PSCAD studies and progress to Grid Manager.

Job Description

  • Perform and review power system studies for renewable energy, BESS and grid connection projects.
  • Develop and validate network and plant models using PowerFactory, PSCAD and PSS®E.
  • Support end-to-end grid connection activities, including GPS development and AEMO submissions.
  • Assess plant compliance with NEM requirements and performance standards.
  • Collaborate with clients, OEMs, consultants and network operators to resolve technical issues.
  • Review models, studies and control settings to optimise system performance.
  • Support commissioning, testing and model validation activities.
  • Prepare technical reports, compliance documentation and project deliverables.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Power Systems & Grid Connection Engineer will have:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years' experience in power system studies and grid connection projects within the Australian energy market.
  • Strong proficiency with PowerFactory, PSCAD and/or PSS®E.
  • Solid understanding of AEMO requirements, GPS processes and NEM regulations.
  • Experience delivering load flow, fault level, dynamic stability and grid compliance studies.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy, BESS and inverter-based resource technologies.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage clients, OEMs and network operators.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and technical reporting capabilities.
