This role will play a critical part in advancing the organisation's understanding of data through the development of modelling standards, patterns, governance and reusable approaches that improve quality and consistency. It will focus on enabling others to perform effective data modelling, while also contributing directly to the design and delivery of data models where required to meet customer or organisational demand.

Job Description

Core Role Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in data modelling, including conceptual, logical and physical data modelling, and a sound understanding of Enterprise Data Models (EDM).
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, guide and uplift other data modellers through standards, reviews, training, mentoring and practical support.
  • Experience defining and applying data modelling standards, conventions and governance practices aligned with recognised frameworks such as DAMA DMBOK.
  • Experience using enterprise data modelling tools, including PowerDesigner, in either a user or administrator capacity.
  • Strong stakeholder management and consulting skills, with the ability to work across business and technical teams to translate needs into modelling guidance and fit-for-purpose model designs.
  • xperience in delivering presentations, facilitation sessions and training to uplift organisational capability in data modelling.
  • Knowledge of dimensional modelling and Kimball techniques, including fact and dimension design, conformed dimensions and slowly changing dimensions.
  • Knowledge of semantic models, ontologies and knowledge graphs.
  • Knowledge of broader data management principles and practices, including metadata, data quality, governance and business glossary concepts.
  • Ability to develop data models directly where required by customer demand, priority initiatives or areas needing specialist support.

The Successful Applicant

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Certification or training in DAMA DMBOK, data management, or data architecture.
  • Experience integrating data models with master data management (MDM), reference data and data quality tools.
  • Exposure to AI/ML use cases and understanding of how model design affects feature engineering, semantic enrichment and data products.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in delivering presentations, workshops and training to uplift data literacy and modelling capability.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management experience, with the ability to build effective working relationships across business and technical teams.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams, balancing enterprise standards with product and delivery needs
