Job Description

Reporting to the VP Human Resources, this position is responsible for supporting approximately 200+ corporate and expatriate employees across the full employee lifecycle. The role combines hands-on operational HR leadership with strategic business partnering responsibilities and requires a confident practitioner capable of making informed decisions across complex employment matters.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing day-to-day HR leadership and advisory support across Australian corporate and PNG operations.
  • Managing employee and industrial relations matters, including grievances, complaints, disciplinary processes and workplace investigations.
  • Acting as the key HR contact for expatriate employees, including contracts, roster arrangements, mobility requirements and employment compliance.
  • Providing expert advice on both PNG and Australian employment legislation and ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Supporting site leadership teams with workforce planning, organisational change and people-related decision making.
  • Overseeing global mobility activities and expatriate workforce management.
  • Driving the optimisation, adoption and embedding of HR systems following a recent HRIS implementation.
  • Partnering with leaders to develop and implement HR strategies, policies and practices aligned to business objectives.
  • Supporting culture, performance, engagement and capability initiatives across geographically dispersed teams.
  • Collaborating closely with a dedicated HR projects and systems resource who will focus on remuneration, compliance and future HR transformation projects.



The Successful Applicant

To be successful in this position, you will be a highly capable HR leader with strong operational and strategic experience. You will be able to demonstrate a track record of success in a similar role, ideally within the Mining, Oil and Gas or Engineering sectors and have some or all the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration or related field (desirable)
  • Strong working knowledge of both Papua New Guinea and Australian employment legislation. PNG experience is essential.
  • Experience supporting remote, operational or site-based workforces.
  • Proven capability managing employee relations, investigations, grievances and workplace compliance matters.
  • Experience advising leaders and making independent decisions on complex people issues.
  • Exposure to expatriate workforce management, global mobility and international employment arrangements.
  • Experience working across multiple jurisdictions and cultures.
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills.
  • HRIS implementation, systems optimisation or change management experience.
  • The ability to travel to site (PNG) when required
