The Functional Expert will work as part of a specialist delivery team in the Central Pharmacy Future State (CPFS) Project. The aim of the project is to commission a new Central Pharmacy (CP) facility based in Southeast Queensland that provides a safe, modern and efficient operating system.
  • Brisbane based candidates preferred. Critical project within the health sector.
  • Initial 16 month contract, until Nov 2027

Job Description

The responsibilities and duties to be undertaken by the role, but are not limited to:

  • Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
  • Fulfill the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service values, to which Queensland Health is aligned.
  • Actively manage a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, and ethical behaviour.
  • Work within a project environment to deliver assigned milestones, deliverables, and outcomes on time, to specification, and in accordance with defined quality standards.
  • Design and implement new S/4HANA Materials Management configuration and WRICEF objects in alignment with CP's business requirements and SAP best practices, ensuring solutions are scalable, adaptable to future business and technology needs, and introduced without adverse impacts on existing processes, integrations, or custom enhancements.
  • Design the S/4HANA master data structures - including material master, hazardous substance master, delivery address, business partner, outline agreements, purchasing information records, output condition records, delegates and substitutes - ensuring alignment with the overall solution architecture.
  • Ensure seamless integration with related modules such as EWM (Extended Warehouse Management), SD (Sales and Distribution), FI/CO (Finance and Controlling), BTP (Business Technology Platform), and other external systems.
  • Collaborate with the S/4HANA Solution Architect to ensure the Operational Procurement and Inventory Management solution aligns with the overall architectural vision and complies with audit, data governance, and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare comprehensive project documentation, such as discussion papers, data standards, process flows, detailed design documentation, configuration and functional specifications, test scripts, etc.
  • Conduct unit testing and support system integration testing, user acceptance testing, performance testing, penetration testing and other testing phases as required.



The Successful Applicant

Skills / Experience Required:

  • Minimum five years' experience in implementing original embedded S/4HANA Materials Management designs/requirements in greenfield implementations and/or in live production environments (mandatory).
  • SAP S/4HANA Materials Management certified consultant is desirable.
  • Additional certifications in related modules (e.g. S/4HANA MM, SD, EWM, etc.) is desirable
  • Proven ability to design and deliver original, fit‑for‑purpose embedded S/4HANA Operational Procurement and Inventory Management solutions across greenfield implementations and/or live production environments. This includes creating bespoke designs rather than relying on predefined templates or rollout configurations, and providing full configuration, WRICEF development, and end‑to‑end Operational Procurement and Inventory Management design.
  • Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable, best‑practice SAP designs, supported by strong analytical, problem‑solving, and fit‑gap assessment capability.
  • Deep understanding of OPIM integration with EWM, SD, FI, BTP, and external systems, with demonstrated experience delivering cross‑module, end‑to‑end solutions.
