Job Description

  • Lead the R&D function, driving innovation, product development and commercialisation activities.
  • Develop new formulations, products and technologies aligned with market and customer requirements.
  • Oversee laboratory operations, quality systems and testing capability.
  • Manage product quality, compliance and technical investigations.
  • Lead scale-up activities and technology transfer from laboratory to manufacturing.
  • Manage and mentor Quality Control and R&D teams.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement and Commercial teams to improve operational performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, process optimisation and technical excellence.
  • Contribute to strategic business planning and future growth opportunities.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Technical Manager should have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or a related discipline.
  • Strong technical leadership experience within lubricants, greases, industrial oils, additives, specialty chemicals or similar manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience leading product development, formulation and commercialisation projects.
  • Hands-on laboratory, quality and manufacturing support experience.
  • Strong people leadership capabilities with experience managing technical teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • A commercially minded approach combined with strong technical expertise.
