Our client is a well‑established Australian provider of engineered pump and fluid handling solutions, supporting critical applications across a range of industrial markets. The business partners closely with customers to deliver end‑to‑end solutions, including system design, installation, and aftermarket support, and is recognised for its technical expertise and service-led approach.

With continued investment in growth, an opportunity now exists for an experienced Business Development Manager to support expansion across key industries, particularly Food & Beverage and Pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Job Description

Reporting to the Sales Manager - Australia, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing, and converting new sales opportunities, while strengthening long-term customer relationships and market presence.

This is a field-based, relationship-driven role working closely with internal sales, service, operations, and marketing teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and developing new opportunities aligned to pump and fluid handling solutions
  • Targeting and growing market share within Food & Beverage and Pharmaceutical sectors
  • Building strong relationships with customers, consultants, and key decision-makers
  • Maximising revenue from existing accounts while developing new client opportunities
  • Supporting tendering and quotation activity to progress opportunities through the pipeline
  • Ensuring a high standard of aftermarket support and service delivery
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date activity records within the CRM system
  • Conducting regular face-to-face customer and prospect meetings
  • Collaborating with service and operations teams to identify new markets and applications
  • Working with marketing on product positioning, promotional activity, and brand awareness
  • Providing sales forecasts, budget input, and regular reporting to management

The Successful Applicant

You will be a commercially focused business development professional with experience selling technical or engineered solutions into regulated or process-driven industries.

You will ideally bring:

  • Experience in pump solutions, fluid handling, or engineered equipment sales
  • Proven exposure to Food & Beverage and/or Pharmaceutical manufacturing environments
  • 5+ years' experience in business development or technical sales roles
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
  • Confidence operating within complex, specification-led sales cycles
  • A relevant degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong CRM, reporting, and Microsoft Office capability
